Bayfest is under way!

The Bayfest 2018 event was launched on Saturday, and there are events throughout the month to help keep the children entertained.

Check out the Bayfest booklet, available around the town, or pick up a leaflet from the museum giving more details of our events.

Most events are free, some have a small charge, and some are best booked in advance, as space is limited.

We look forward to meeting you!

Wheels of time presentations

The Seaside museum would like to celebrate and congratulate Rafferty Parr-Clark and Abigail Balmer, seen here receiving their bronze Wheels of Time badge and certificate, after visiting 10 sites in the scheme. Both are now working towards collecting their silver badges.
Presented by Ian Tittley, chairman,  and Audrey Parkes, Trustee of The seaside Museum Herne Bay,  museum coordinator of the scheme  and Core Member of the Wheels of Time.

Fossil hunting

Our beach is well known for sharks’ teeth, but what else can be found?

During Bayfest, a group of adults and children had the chance to find out, as they joined expert Phil Hadland for a walk along the shore at low tide.

This event proved very popular, and another has been arranged for 17th September – contact the museum for further information and to book your place.

UPDATE: the fossil walk on 17th September is now fully booked, I’m afraid – keep watching for further events!

What’s On September onwards

Our new What’s On list is now available from the museum, listing our exhibitions, talks and children’s events for the next few months.

We also have another fossil walk planned, for 17th September at 3.30pm. Booking is essential for this very popular activity. Join our expert for a walk along the beach and learn what to look out for and how to find the different types of fossils commonly found in the area.

Full information is available from the museum.
