The Seaside Museum Herne Bay has got off to a great start under the management of our team of dedicated volunteers. We now want to make it into something really special for Herne Bay. We plan big changes but we need help. Can you help?
There could be a fascinating role waiting for you
We are currently looking for 3 Trustees and a Trustee Treasurer to join our Board.
The Trust is especially interested in applicants who have skills and expertise in finance (income generation), governance and legal, personnel management, and marketing and promotion. However, if you are interested in this role and feel that you have different skills to contribute, please apply, as all applications will be considered.
Trustees are encouraged to assume a specialist responsibility and engage with management and operational activities and donate time at their convenience. There are 4-6 formal meetings, with additional meetings held as required.
The role of Trustee is to provide robust oversight, strategic direction, ensure effective governance arrangements are in place, rigorously monitor the charity’s performance and provide guidance, advice and support in the delivery of the charity’s objectives.

Front of House
Without volunteers to welcome our visitors we wouldn’t be able to open our doors. Do you like meeting different people every day? Do you like helping people? Fancy sharing your knowledge of Herne Bay and the surrounding areas?
Education and Outreach
One of our key objectives is to introduce local children to their town Museum. Can you help with planning and setting up child-friendly events and workshops and looking after our young visitors?
Marketing the Museum
We have a lot to offer but the Museum needs constant and effective marketing. Do you have ideas for promotion? Can you help with developing marketing plans and in preparing and producing leaflets, posters, press releases?
Recruitment and Administration of Volunteers
The Museum cannot succeed and survive without a team of dedicated volunteers. Can you help with volunteer recruitment and administration such as managing the rota?
Finance and Administration
Effective administration is essential if the Museum is to run smoothly. Can you help with the finances or managing the building?
